Eha battle

Fighting in Eha has been crazy to say the least. In the last 48 hours 309 kills have been made. If you've been looking for action and fights, Eha is the place to be. The action here is seemingly none stop!

On 12/17/2012 just after 0:00 EVE time a friendly poco came out of reinforcement. It was a friendly poco for us in BNANA and seeing how TEST had put it into reinforcement we knew it would bring a fight. The following is an uncut video of the battle. Hope you enjoy!

Fit of the week 1

It's a bit late, but its finally here! Our 1st fit of the week! We all know the old AMAZING Hurricane is gone and dead. Those of you who flew it probably feel the same as I do about it. We all wish it was back and just as cheap as it used to be. I think I have found the fix, but with a few tweaks. I give you the...

[Cyclone, Cane is back???]

Damage Control II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Warp Disruptor II

Medium Rocket Fuel Cache Partition I
Medium Rocket Fuel Cache Partition I
Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I

Valkyrie II x5

No I know some of you may think I'm crazy, but look at the fit. You've got the EHP, better applied DPS, the mobility, 2x med neuts, and it far cheaper than the cane fleet issue. Some of you may sheer at this due to me not using one of the ships bonuses. I'm sure you'll get more EHP over the long run, but you'll not get the applied DPS and may need to drop neuts. I've ran this fit for a while now and have been very please with it. It replaces the old cane nicely IMHO. Let me know what ya thing!

Favor to SOMERblink

Well there went all my plans for new ship fittings. Life came up and I've not been able to do those yet. My apologies, but they will be coming in the near future.

In other news! SOMERblink... Yes I know all of you have stood by your favorite gambling site! Well, maybe stood is a strong word. I think by now most of us are standing on them and/or CCP putting pressure on them to do something about this RMT thing. Finally, no official CCP word, we've SQUEEZED something out of them. Not the glorious resolution some have called for, but it is a step in the right direction.

I've not been around for most of the SOMER fun fair to be had due to some RL issues and a lovely trip to Vegas. We'll get to the Vegas thing another time. Once RL let up and my vacation was over I came back to the rage and bitterness of this SOMER bit. Before I get into my point I want to make it perfectly clear I have used SOMER's gambling site in the past and have profited from it. I started using it back when CCP Rise was still Kil2. In his podcast, Bringing Solo Back, he got a sponsorship from SOMER. A few episodes later he actually went on their site and tried it out. He stated that it was really easy, fluid, and very enjoyable. Peeking my interest I went and tried out the site for myself. I found the site to actually be enjoyable and made a profit. I continued to play for a while, but lost interest in short order. Now that we're clear that I have supported them through using there site in the past I can start to build my case.

Content creators in the past have not got the attention from CCP that many feel they deserve. Whether it be players organizing events, players teaching new players to play, external sites with ties to the game, or many other forms of content. Now recently CCP has started community spotlights. This has been a great move, but now with SOMERgate coming to light is it enough? Is CCP showing too much favor to one and not the others? Of course! There is no doubt about this! CCP gave SOMERblink prizes of immeasurable worth on top of rewarding every "employee" they have. I know they took back the Gold Magnate and Guardian Vexor, but the gifts they still gave away have immeasurable worth. Who knows what VIP package to fanfest or the special edition ships mean and/or could be worth. Lets not even get on to the subject of even playing field to win these prizes.

Many people have asked why all the favoritism towards SOMER. I think I have found the answer to this question. The answer comes from one of CCP's own employees, CCP Rise. As I stated prior he has a history with SOMER. His experience was a good one and I'm sure SOMER benefited greatly from it. CCP Rise, Kil2 at the time, told stories of players making it big their site and those who lost it all on his podcast. Now that he is a CCP employee his words and actions have more meaning to us as players. He can't just say anything anymore without weight and possible repercussions.

In September of this year CCP Rise graced The Daily Roam podcast on their 6th episode. The show started off ho hum and usual. Then when the attention turned to CCP Rise for opening statements he mentioned that he couldn't mention SOMER and he really didn't know of other things to say. He did mention the features and ideas area of the forums however. Forget Myface, one of the host, mentioned that he was jealous of Rise's SOMER sponsorship. After a few chuckles, CCP Rise mentions he has a whole new kind of joy from SOMER. He stated that once moving to CCP he's found how many "CCP'ers are like hopeless degenerate SOMERblink gamblers who like buy PLEX to pay for their SOMERblink addictions..." He goes on to say a few more things, but this is the meat and bones right here.

There we go... It all makes sense now. Here is where CCP's favoritism comes from. I'm sorry it took so long for me to get to this point, but I feel it to be necessarily. Here is the link to the podcast episode. The statment is about two minutes into it. I enjoy The Daily Roam and wish no ill on the guys. They do a great show and I hope more of you will listen to it. As for statements about CCP on this episode... I'll leave you as the players to it from here.

Coming Soon!

Recently I've been playing around in EFT... A lot! Reading forums, looking at kill boards and kill mails only to come to one simple conclusion. I can do that fit better! In light of this hair brain idea I will be doing fits on here. They will be advanced fits and sometimes hard to fit without implants. I will try to make proposals for those who choose to fly without implants or have imperfect fitting skills where I can. I hope to accompany videos with them when able, but due to my current life style making videos is more time consuming than I once thought them to be. Some of the fits will be odd or even very specialized. Heck some of them might not make sense to you, but I'm going to do them any ways and try to explain their application.

The first one will be up in a few days. Currently I'm trying to get some decent footage so it will have a companion video.

Until then, Happy hunting!

Frigates are useless

"Frigates are useless! Frigates are only for noobs who can't fly real ships!" We've all heard these words uttered from time to time. Maybe from a bitter elitist who should remember where they came from. Even from a delusional new pilot that's spent too much time lurking the forums. Frigates are, arguable, the backbone fleet of PVP. They lock quicker, move faster, and can typically hard tackle any sub capital before the rest of the fleet can get a lock on it.

When you first wake up into New Eden, a voice calls out to you. Aura, our guide through the games mind boggling tutorials and the voice of our ships computer, sends you out into space on you first adventure! On this adventure your to pick up a ship. The ship is none other than a frigate. Its a simple rookie ship, but none the less a frigate. While still wide eyed and giddy, Aura tells you to proceed through the acceleration gate and make your first kill! Your first kill in a frigate, even though an NPC, is great! Others may have rage quit before getting there due to not understanding the interface lol.

We were all there at one time, maybe not the 2003 guys. I wasn't around EVE in 2003. So why all the hate on frigate. Is it the DPS, tank, price or what is it about frigates? Maybe its the fighting style of frigates. What I mean is the difference in winning the fight and loosing the fight. The razor's edge you walk when in a frigate fight. Range, speed, tracking, everything is amplified. Frigate weapons ranges are, typically much shorter than larger hulls. They move much faster and tracking at these speeds is a nightmare at times. We might be on to something here. Larger hulls (cruisers and up) are granted more expensive, but maybe more forgiving at times in 1v1 or small gang. Lets take an example here,  your orbiting another frig and they sling shot you into their web/scram range. Your done here unless your maybe dual prop and can pull range again, but you window of error is much smaller. With a cruiser if this same instance happens your window of error is wider. Cruisers have more fitting for more tank, typically move slower, and are less maneuverable when not kite fit. Cruisers will hold on field longer than a frigate. Flying them is more like walking a fence post than a razor.

Now I'm not saying cruisers are bad or anyone who doesn't fly a frigate is a bitter vet, but offering an explanation to their possible lack of love. Frigates are a viable ship class and should be observed as such. They offer a great starting point for all and great options for more skilled pilots.

We'll delve deeper into this another time. I'd like to wrap this up with a video of how a hand full of frigs took down a much stronger ship. Enjoy!

Background & Future Goals

Hello everyone and welcome to Derping Through War! Now you may ask yourself, "What kind of name is that for a blog?" Let me explain about the focus first. EVE Online will be the central focus of Derping Through War. EVE Online is a MMO played around the world, with the exception of China, on a single shard that runs 23.5/7. This means everyone plays and exists on the same server and the server is up 23.5 hours a day. If you would like more info on EVE Online head on over to www.eveonline.com and check it out.

Now to the name "Derping Through War." Why did I pick this name? EVE Online is a game about war. Whether it is normal PVP or "market" PVP it is still war. The war I most closely associate with is called "Faction Warfare" which take place in low sec. It pits multiple factions against other allying factions in battle over territory. Due to the unique nature of EVE this war is constant and dynamic making for a very fun experience. Thus as the name says, I'm derping through the war that is EVE online.

Derping Through War will be updated with news and story's often. I will also be posting my YouTube videos on here. The videos coincide with the blog and give visual depth to the story's to be told.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope in time you will grow fond of and enjoy my blog!
